2024 WVSNP Grant Recipient
We are one of the groups in West Virginia who is receiving 2024 grant awards from WVSNP that allow us to offer assistance for spaying and neutering of our community's pets.
Administered by the WV Department of Agriculture
Our shelter highly recommends the spaying and neutering of your pets and neighborhood strays.
Without spay/neuter initiatives, homeless animals are often euthanized, neglected, or die of disease. These efforts contribute to the prevention of overpopulated shelters, the homeless or abandoned animals. Sterilization is critical for management of free-roaming dogs/cats (strays), disease control, and can reduce health risks and behavioral issues of your pets.
Help us help them by working on this nation wide over-population issue by spaying and neutering.
If interested in more information please reach out. Happy to help educate!
The Ritchie County Humane Society is located just outside of Harrisville, West Virginia. We provide sheltering for unwanted animals in our county and also provide animal control services in conjunction with local law enforcement.
We are an open admission shelter which means we do not turn animals away because of breed, age or medical condition. We accept owned and stray animals from Ritchie County as long as space is available.
Board meetings held the 2nd Tuesday of every month at the Shelter at 5:00 pm. The public is welcome to attend.
